Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA) is a fully-managed and jointly supported Red Hat OpenShift offering that combines the power of Red Hat OpenShift, the industry's most comprehensive enterprise Kubernetes platform, and the AWS public cloud.
Installation, monitoring, management, maintenance, and upgrades are performed by Red Hat site reliability engineers (SRE) covering the complete stack including the control plane, worker nodes and key services. You can also deploy clusters across multiple Availability Zones in supported regions to maximize availability. With all this covered, your ops team would only need to step in when managing user access for your developers who can take advantage of the 150+ AWS cloud-native compute, database, analytics, machine learning, networking, mobile, and other services.

What does each hourly instance dimension actually cover for billing?
Each dimension maps to one AWS EC2 instance type running as a cluster node. You pay for every hour that instance runs. One running instance of the selected type equals the metered unit. Bare-metal dimensions cover a full physical server; the rest cover virtual machine instances of the stated size.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or the cluster sits idle?
The hourly software charge applies only while an instance runs. Stopped instances do not accrue this hourly rate. Underlying AWS resources such as storage may still bill separately through AWS. The software meter tracks running time only, so idle nodes you shut down stop the hourly charge.
If I run multiple instance types in one cluster, how do the charges combine?
Each running instance bills independently at its own hourly rate. Your total is the sum of hours run across every instance type in the cluster. Mixing families, such as general-purpose and accelerated computing nodes, adds each one's hourly charge to the same invoice. Cost tracks your actual node mix.
