    Overview

Running CFD simulations on the cloud offers increased flexibility and scalability over on-premise hardware, with on-demand access and unlimited capacity. However, setting up and accessing the cloud using 3rd party providers often requires significant time and expertise in cloud and HPC technologies and interrupts existing workflows. Simcenter X, part of the Xcelerator as a Service (XaaS) offering, gives you instant access to virtual engineering workstation and HPC cluster environments running on optimized Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, configured and managed by Siemens, with no additional setup needed.

    Highlights

    • Accessible - Immediately leverage simulation tools from any device. Quickly and easily build and run simulations in the cloud, access results and share files.
    • Flexible - Cloud gives you the freedom to access burst capacity when you need to, or to replace on-premises hardware. Quickly scale up or down as needed to meet those tight deadlines with time to spare or to tackle more ambitious projects. Transform CAPEX to OPEX to be more agile and get a better grip on cost by directly attributing it to simulation activities.
    • Scalable - Leverage the effectively unlimited capacity of AWS to run more simulations simultaneously and make faster and better informed decisions. Rest assured your simulations will be running on the latest hardware and infrastructure, configured according to best practices and managed by Siemens.

    Dimensions summary

This listing uses a single custom-quote dimension billed by units, with a starting price point you can scale up from. You buy credits that fund your simulation usage. Credits expire 12 months after purchase, so plan your consumption within that term. The quantity is configurable, letting you size the purchase to your team's needs. Credits provide time-based access to cloud-powered resources across simulation domains. Because pricing is quote-based, you work with the vendor to set the exact unit volume for your projects.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

Credits fund time-based access to cloud-powered HPC resources and simulation solvers. You draw down credits as you run simulations across CFD, Mechanical, Systems, and MDAO domains. The pool works with named-user access and floating tokens that unlock solvers and features on demand.
You add named users and tokens at any time through a centralized cloud admin console. Tokens can be allocated to individuals or groups and shared globally. This lets you expand capacity as project needs grow without renegotiating your base setup.
Credits expire 12 months after purchase. Any credits you have not consumed within that window are lost. Plan your simulation workload so your usage draws down the purchased volume before the term ends.

Efficient Structural Analysis but Challenging for Beginners

    Reviewed on Aug 06, 2026
    Review provided by G2
What do you like best about the product?
I use Simcenter 3D for structural analysis and it saves us more time in solving problems. I like that it offers more than a 50% reduction in physical prototype cycles, which is a huge benefit. The geometry editing seamlessly ties to CAD associativity, which helps me with one interface to run structural, thermal, and flow analyses efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find Simcenter 3D to have a steep learning curve and high cost of entry. The user interface is more dense for new people, coupled with high licensing costs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Simcenter 3D saves us time in solving, reduces physical prototype cycles by over 50%, integrates seamlessly with NX for geometry editing tied to CAD associativity, and helps me run structural, thermal, and flow analyses in one interface.
